How can Food Nostalgia be studied to design for Homesickness?

ABOUT THE PROJECT
This project examines how food nostalgia among immigrants can be harnessed through design to reconnect people with their cultural roots. Rather than focusing solely on taste, the study explores how early food experience shape cultural memory. Through in-depth qualitative research,
it identifies the emotional elements that make these memories meaningful, such as sensory detail and social connection. The resulting design solutions—ranging from crafted objects to digital experiences—seek to recreate those emotional touchpoints, offering comfort and cultural continuity for those living far from home.
